    COMGIN SOON
  • Can i use Youtube beats for the session
Absolutely, but please be aware that to release the track commercially you will need to purchase the instrumental.
  • Why are there recording slots?
These slots are to ensure the engineer has enough time to give your session a quick mix, and to ensure all clients have a fair amount of time.
  • What is Stem Recording?
In simple forms stem recording is being able to record vocals over the stemmed-out tracks of an instrumental, resulting in a cleaner more polished yet impactful mix. The problem with recording on a WAV or MP3 is that master limiting/compression has already been applied, so it can only reach a level of loudness, clarity or impact without distorting. When recording over the individual trackouts of the track we can EQ and separate the instruments around the vocals and other colliding frequencies resulting in a more polished track with improved clarity.
  • What is an In-House Master
When recording a 2 track session, a limiter is applied to the final output. This ensures the mix is about as loud as commercially released records. Alongside a limiter, a 2-bus compressor plugin and a mastering plugin are engaged to give a full loud master for free. This all happens while you record, allowing the quick delivery of a finished track.
  • What is a free basic mix?
The Mixing Includes: Basic EQ. Basic Compression. Basic Auto Tuning. Basic Reverb Basic Delay Basic Tape Stop Effects This package does not include any extensive pitch correction, parallel compression or extensive instrumental or Vocal Effects.
  • What if i need to change something after I leave?
If you need to change anything, a separate session will need to be booked.
  • Why cant I get a pro mix with a MP3 or WAV instrumental
In order to fully maximise the dynamic capabilities of the session, full multi track or grouped stems is only applicable with the pro mix. A Mp3 is too low of quality to bring out the full stereo field and image of the track. A Wav is normally good enough quality (depending on the source) , however to get the full capabilities of the SSL Analogue summing mixer only Multi Track or Group Stems are applicable. There are no exceptions As a rule of thumb it’s a good idea to provide all the beat stems / track out for your song. This is because it’ll allow your audio engineer full control over the sound of your song and allow them to fix any mixing issues related to the beat. For example, it’ll allow them to make your vocals sit better in the mix as they can carve out certain frequencies while boosting or keeping others. It’s important to keep in mind that most producers have limited audio engineering experience and so there will likely be mixing issues with their beats which can usually be corrected by an audio engineer. The overwhelming majority of songs released by major labels and for mass consumption are mixed where the audio engineer has full control of the individual tracks. These songs have very well defined kicks, snares, bass and melody tracks which is very difficult to get if the artist just recorded over the one track beat. For example, if you need to turn the kick up on a one track beat you only have the option of turning up the low frequencies which isn’t going to be as clean and defined as just turning up the kick track. Also if you turn up the whole beat, you’ll likely drown out the vocals.
  • How long will it take
Everything is expalined in the deadline tab. Click here
  • References or rough mixes?
Absolutely. In addition to as much written information as possible you’re welcome to provide a rough mix as well as a commercially released reference song, as these will be useful as guides for the engineer.
  • How Should I Deliver My Files?
We accept WAV or AIFF files at 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96kHz; 16/24 or 32 bit. Please supply us with mono or stereo files, clearly named and without audio clipping. Stereo files will be counted as 2 tracks of audio, for example ‘Strings L & R’ will be counted as 2 tracks. You will need to provide multi-tracks that are consolidated or bounced from the start point of your song (bar 1 beat 1 or start time code). All files must be of the same duration, sample rate and bit depth. Sorry, but we cannot accept DAW sessions (i.e Pro Tools, Logic, Cubase etc). We ask that you also double check your audio files before uploading. Reload them into a new Session/Project, checking that they are the correct placement and length, Also checking that any crossfades have been included when consolidating or Bouncing in Place.
  • How long for a song?
10 mins is the maximum. If more time is required you will be charged. The amount is up to the the discretion of the engineer.
  • Why do i need a streaming version?
If you are planning to release your music on iTunes, Spotify or anything you need a streaming master. These streaming sites use normalisation on your final master to make the level of all songs uploaded to their site the same level, and if it is not correctly calibrated it will affect the quality of you master when going trough these platforms.
  • Bad recording or distortion in the mix?
Artifacts like clipping and distortion cannot be removed in the mix process, if there is too much distortion or clipping in the mix it cannot be worked on and would require a re recording.
  • I want to add reverb and effects prior to the mix. Is that ok?
Ideally not. We ask that you please supply multi-track files dry, without reverb or effects. But, if you feel that a specific effect, processing or creative element (filter sweeps, delays etc.) is an integral part of the sound then it is fine. Please note that any excessive limiting, compression or EQ that is applied will severely restrict our engineers ability to mix the track.
  • What format should I send my stems or track outs in
WAV or AIFF please. Uncompressed stereo with a bit depth of at least 16bit, ideally 24bit and a sampling frequency of 44.1kHz up to 96kHz. No pre-processing using limiting or normalising – we need as much headroom as possible to work with to make sure that your tracks sound as good as possible when we mix it. FX, compression for colour or specific EQ is allowed. however please be aware the more processing you do the less we do which will definitely affect the quality and clarity of your mix.
  • Are MP3 Allowed?
NO, Mp3 are not allowed when mixing either the Pro Package or the Elite Package
  • Can i have the mix without the master?
All packages come with the separate mixes along with the master file. You can ask specifically for the master to not be included, however the price of the package ordered will be the same.
  • How much headroom do I need to leave?
Plenty of headroom please. Artifacts like clipping and distortion cannot be removed in the mix process, so allow plenty of headroom when printing your multi-tracks to avoid any.
  • How will you deliver my track?
Via google drive or we transfer. All files will be saved on google drive for up to 3 months.
  • Pro Mix Deadlines
Single - 1 Month EP - 2 Months Album - 3 months Playlist 4 months This applies to all services that use the pro mix mixing package such as Playlist, Pro Studio Sessions etc.
  • Why add the master in the package?
In most cases, clients normally don’t understand the mastering process so they believe the mix and master to be the same, or in some cases think a bad mix can be fixed in the master. And in some cases the artist will spend ££££ on a mix only to find out they need to spend another £££ on a master. We offer both services in one package to avoid all the confusion and time consumption that is associated with music.
  • When will you start on my mix?
Once the correct forms have been filled out you will be sent an invoice. You will then need to pay the NON REFUNDABLE deposit for the project to start. Once the NON REFUNDABLE deposit has been paid, you will need to send the requested files via we transfer or uploaded to the google drive provided. When all files and deposits have been made the engineer will instruct you on the date on when the service will start. Once everything has been agreed, the project will start and be completed within the deadlines provided. After everything is completed, you will be required to pay the full amount to receive all files, unless payment is asked for before hand which is up to the sole discretion of the engineer.
  • Whats the point of different packages
After years of mixing, specific clients have specific needs, for instance someone who has a limited budget or wants something out there quick will require less work than a veteran artist that needs attention and care to their mix. With that in mind 2 different packages have been created to suit your needs.

  • How Can I Pay?
Once the correct forms have been filled out you will be sent an invoice. It will either be a PayPal link for international transfer or a UK bank transfer. You will need to pay the NON REFUNDABLE deposit for the project to start.
  • Why are there Deadlines?
Because I charge per project, not per hour there is no real-time limit to when the project is to be completed. So to ensure it's completed within a specific time limit, specific services will have deadlines for when the project will need to be wrapped up. However, more than likely the project will be finished in a 1/2 of that time and the remaining time will be left to perfect the project. Once the deadline time limit has been reached you will need to purchase the package again, there will be no rollovers, meaning however many mix revisions or master revisions you had on the previous package will not be added to this new package. If you have paid for a package and the deadline time has been reached, there will be NO REFUNDS, however, due to the engineer's discretion, the project can still be worked on.
  • MP3 WAV Track Outs (Multi Track) Stems Multitracks - What’s The Difference?
First, we have to separate two different types of stems typically used in the music industry. Individual stems (Tracks) Group stems Individual Stems (Multi Track or Track Outs): Multi Tracks or Track Outs are single instrument tracks or vocal tracks. For example, an individual audio file for the Kick, Snare, Guitar, Piano or Lead Vocal, backing vocal, ad-lib etc. When you’re buying beats online, these are usually considered as the stems. Group Stems: Group stems are a group of sounds of a category packed in a single audio file. Such as the group of all drums, the group of all guitar tracks or the group of all recorded vocals of a track (also known as an A Capella track). These group stems are often used by mastering engineers, video editors and producers in film productions. In order to increase the overall quality of your song, you’d want to go for the individual tracks, rather than the group stems. Producers generally consider ‘tracked out stems’ as the individual stems anyway so no worries about that. There are many reasons why professionals work with stems but it all comes down to the same thing. Being in control of the overall mix In control of the song arrangement Controlling the volume levels of each individual track Being able to control certain frequencies of an individual track And so on… Producers and audio engineers need to have control over the mix in order to deliver a song that meets the industry quality standard. This is where tracked out stems are used for. Why are stems better than MP3 or WAV? MP3’s are not industry standard and won’t even get you close to a level of quality similar to what you hear on the radio. Simply because the quality of MP3 files are poor. NOW LETS GET TECHNICAL 😀 MP3 mp3 is a compressed audio format. That means there is a compression algorithm in order to save space (almost 1/10th smaller than a .wav file) while maintaining a decent quality of the sound. Most of the time, this encoding process deletes a lot of musical information: less low end (less bass) and less really high frequencies (less definition) in the frequency spectrum of the sound. The .mp3 format is really useful for streaming or storing music but it is never used for working on a song by the pro community in the music industry. The compression of the Master Recording of a song in an .mp3 audio file is only applied as the last step before sending it to the streaming/digital sales platforms. The quality of a piece of audio in this format is determined by the bit rate when we generate an mp3. The standard highest value of this bit rate is 320kbps (kilobits per second). WAV Wav is a lossless waveform audio format. A .wav file is the closest digital representation of an original audio waveform without affecting or altering the sonic characteristics of the sound. It is an uncompressed format so that does not require decoding for accessing the data stored in the file (A decoding step can generate loss and errors in the data when you import the file in a DAW for example). That’s why this format is the standard for every professional uses of audio material. You can choose the level of “definition” of the audio file with the sample rate (in Hz) and the bit depth (in bits) before exporting an audio element. Most of the time, we both work in the DAWs and export the tracks at 44100Hz or 48000Hz and 24bits to make sure of the quality of audio processing. Stereo Beat (2 Track Instrumental) A Stereo File of a beat is a 2-channels (Left & Right).mp3 or .wav file containing the whole instrumental. It is either unmastered when you download it after purchasing a License or mastered if you download it for free.
  • What happens when all revisions are done?
When all revisions have be exhausted you will need to order more revisions. Revision ad ons are only valid until the deadlines have been reached. Unless agreed other wise, when the deadline is finished you will need to re order the package again.
  • What is a Stem
Stems or "Group Stems"are stereo recordings sourced from mixes of multiple individual tracks. For example, a drum stem will typically be a stereo audio file that sounds like all of the drum tracks mixed together. In most cases, additional processing such as equalisation, compression, and time-based effects is included to ensure that the sound achieved by the mixing engineer is committed.
  • What’s a Master Engineer?
A mastering engineer is a person skilled in the practice of taking audio that has been previously mixed in either the analog or digital domain as mono, stereo, or multichannel formats and preparing it for use in distribution.
  • What is a Multi Track Track Out
"Track-outs" of "Multi-tracks" are the recorded separate, individual elements of an audio production. For Example, Kick, Snare, Main Vocals etc etc. Some may be mono, while others are stereo. They may have been recorded from microphones or direct inputs, programmed in a sequencer, or arranged in a sampler. In many cases, time-based effects such as delay and reverb are excluded to allow flexibility for the mixing engineer.
  • What is a Mixing Engineer ?
The mixing engineer is responsible for combining all of the different sonic elements of a recorded piece of music into a final version and balancing the distinct parts to achieve a desired effect.
  • Bit Rate & Bit Depth?
BIT RATE Bit Rate is the amount of KB (kilobytes) per second that audio outputs, the higher the better. MP3 HAS 320 KB/S BIT DEPTH Bit Depth is used to determine the range of measurements. The greater the bit depth, the better the quality of stored or reproduced sound MP3 HAS 16 Bit Depth
  • Types of Mastering?
Digital Master? This is when only plugins are used to master the track The problem is that it can only reach a level of loudness and thickness until the mix starts to create unwanted artefacts such as distortion or a crushed signal. Digital masters normally lose the warmth, power and punch, however the cleanness and clarity are still present. This Comes free with a Stereo Track Recording Package. AI Master? AI mastering is a program or algorithm that analyses a mix, creates a set of processing for that mix which is intended to improve the sound and make the playback level louder, and then applies that processing. It basically does what a human mastering engineer does to a single song, minus the “human” part. This comes free with a Stem Track Recording Package Analogue Master? This is when real analogue equipment is used to master the track. The signal is processed via valve, transistors and tape machine equipment. No computers or plugins are used Analogue Masters are normally bigger than their digital counterparts with a perceived increase in warmth, power and punch with an imprint of shine and clarity. This Comes Free with a Pro Mix Session This Comes Free with a Pro Studio Session Stem Master? Stem mastering is a type of mastering that requires the submission of a mix dismantled into several sub-mixes. Once the files have been stacked on top of each other, the mastering engineer can surgically intervene on only where the problematic issues occur.
  • Recording my mix to tape machine?
You probably would ask why would one even do this? The answer is simple, yet complicated. It sounds better?? The most commonly cited characteristic of analog recording is its "warmth”. Tape warmth adds a level of colour to the sound, primarily softening the attacks of musical notes, and thickening up the low frequency range. Recording at slightly hot levels to analog tape can also produce a nice distortion that works well with certain types of music. Regardless of how you choose to implement it, the sound of analog tape can be a great addition to your digital mix. exporting your mix via a tape machine 2 adds some cohesive “glue” on the mix bus. Or, you may find the tape is just the thing to add a bit of understated warmth and low-end punch to your mix. Bandwidth is the ability of a recorded signal to be reproduced at varying degrees of resolution. Think of it like enlarging a low-resolution image versus a high-resolution image. After a certain point, enlarging a lower-resolution image will become pixelated and difficult to see, where the hi-resolution image will resize clearly. Like images, audio signals can have a limited bandwidth if recorded digitally. Once a digital recording is made, the bandwidth is set in place. An analog recording is considered unlimited. Therefore, it can move to a higher and higher resolution without losing its original quality. The combination of transformer balanced inputs and outputs and clean IC-based circuitry offers a perfect combination of transparency and subtle "oomph" that you'll instantly recognise once you hear it - it's just "that sound"!
  • What is a Mix Revision?
A mix revision can be anything from changing a re-verb setting or reconstructing a drum line (within reason.) Each additional change that is applied and bounced or exported out counts as a revision.
  • What is a Master Revision
A master revision is the change to the final master file. This means the master will be changed, if anything specific needs to be done, its like turn down the ad libs etc then this will need to addressed in the mix.
